TSP Funds Two Camel Clinics!

The Small Project started 2019 off in a big way! In 2018, we successfully raised enough money to fund not one but TWO mobile camel clinics operated by the Kenyan organization, Communities Health Africa Trust (CHAT)!

Canadian nurse, Gigi’s Experience

This March I set off to Kenya for a change of scenery and a clear mind.  I am a registered nurse working in a busy downtown emergency room in Toronto. Like many of my colleagues, I was feeling overworked, under-recognized, and on a straight track to burn out. I decided I needed some self-care and do something I always want to do: volunteer with an organization in Africa.

Camel Mobile Clinics

A Kenyan organization, Community Health Africa Trust’s (CHAT) mobile clinics provide integrated health services to rural communities throughout central and northern Kenya. Over 80% of the people living in these communities have little or no access to other health services.

Meet Catherine

She comes from an incredibly poor home. There is no running water, no power. The house has two rooms, a dirt floor and a few bits of scavenged furniture.

This is Elizabeth

Elizabeth also became a scholarship student in 2011 when she entered Form 1 (grade 9) at St. Paul’s Githakwa near a town called Nyeri, about an hour and a half from where her family lives.

Rebecca’s Story

In July 2009, Rebecca’s life was forever changed when she met Isabel, a Canadian student on a school trip to Kenya. Isabel thought Rebecca was pretty terrific.
